2024-25 Travel Season(Competitive)

Our travel teams are competitive teams that play against teams from every corner of the state. These teams require a try-out to be selected and feature the most skilled and determined players in our town. The process is simple, register for the team, attend the try-out and if you are selected you will have the opportunity to advance your skills playing against the best players in RI. Here is what the commitment entails.

Dates: The travel season mirrors the fall rec program and runs from Late October - Early March

How Often: Each team plays about 12-20 games throughout the year on weekends(possibly Friday nights as well). We also have two 1 hour practices every week. Times of practices are TBD.

Where: Practices occur at schools in EWG (High School, Junior High, and Metcalf)

What is the Cost? The cost for the 2024-25 season is being evaluated based on how many games will be played and the cost of those games. There is also a fee for the team uniform. The estimated per player cost is $350($225 with no uniform). This may change prior to the tryout dates. The cost of our travel program is lower than most programs across the state. The typical season sees at least 40 hours of game and practice time through the year which works out to $8 per hour plus an amazing looking uniform!

What is the next step? Register here on the website and wait to hear about the tryout dates and time. Tryouts are typically held in late October. No fee will be assessed until you are offered and accept a spot on a team. Remember if you are in Grade 6 or under to play on a competitive team you MUST also play in the rec league.

2024-25 Recreation Season

Our recreation program is open to all EWG children who would like to learn the game of basketball in a fun and learning based environment. No tryouts are required and everyone is placed on a team. Depending on the division a skills assessment will be held to ensure teams are balanced as evenly as possible. Available divisions range from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Instructional Division is designed for Kindergarten. This division is often the first experience children have with the game of basketball. They will learn how to play the game doing skills stations. This division is free and meets once a week.

Co-Ed Division is designed for Boys grades 1-2 and Girls grades 1-2. This division is the first game time experience for most kids. They will learn how to play the game with modified rules and gameplay. Please see the frequently asked questions or rules of play for more information. 

Other Grade Based Divisions - Following Co-Ed boys and girls play in separate divisions based on grade level. Please sign up your child for the appropriate division based on their current grade level unless you have been given prior approval from the board to "play up" in a different division.
